How to develop a Photography and Video Production Business.

For my first session of Enterprise week I went to a seminar about creating your own business in Video Production and Photography.

The seminar was run by Jonathan Emery who started from scratch Vector Photography a business which was started because of Emery’s photographs which had been taken on his travels around the world. The images were recognised by a friend as great pieces of work which inspired him to start doing it professionally.  The company is essentially contracted to create adverts for companies or document an event though photography, the company can also be contracted to do Weddings, Time Lapses and various Corporate Events.

Things learnt during the session:

Be Forward – Jonathan Emery told us the story of someone who came to his office asking for work, Emery got him in touch with people within the industry and he now works for a renowned business working within Media.

Get your name out there - Jonathan told us that around 80% of his business came from networking and friends of friends providing him with work, this is useful information as to get a foot in the door early on in your career could be greatly beneficial.
